Rev. George W. Walker, Jr. was born in Columbia, South Carolina. At the age of three he moved with his family to Chicago, IL, where he received his early education in the Chicago Public Schools. He is a graduate of Morehouse College, Atlanta GA, where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. It was during his matriculation at Morehouse that Rev. Walker accepted the call to the Christian Ministry. While a student, he served as pastor of the Prospect A.M.E. Zion Church Monroe, GA.

After receiving his degree, Rev. Walker entered Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury, N.C. and served as pastor of the Indian Hill A.M.E. Zion Church Fort Mill, S.C. and later the Union Ezell A.M.E. Zion Church Fort Lawn, S.C. He received his Master of Divinity Degree in 1997 and in June of that year he was appointed to the St. Mathew-Gordon A.M.E. Zion Church in Chicago, IL.

In August of 2003 Bishop Clarence Carr, Assisting Bishop of the Michigan Annual Conference, appointed Rev. Walker to the St. Mark A.M.E. Zion Church of East Chicago, Indiana.

Rev. Walker served as President of the National Christian Youth Council of the A.M.E. Zion Church from 1990-1994. It was during his term as President that the name of the Organization was changed to the Varick International Christian Youth Council and the name of the choir was named the C.R. Thompson Mass Choir. He represented the youth of the A.M.E. Zion Church at the World Methodist Council Conference in Singapore and Rio de Janeiro. While attending these conferences he was appointed to the Executive Committee of the World Methodist Council.

Rev. Walker currently serves as the assistant Treasuer of the Michigan Annual Conference, Vice President of the Chicago District Ministerium, Chairman of the Chicago District Board of Conference Studies and many boards and organizations; among them are: N.A.A.C.P., Urban League.

Rev. Walker is married to the former Dawn L. Walker and is the proud father of four beautiful children: George III, Deziree Imani, Daniel Lee, and Deleah Lynell.
